3 ways to show your team appreciation

Hello February!

It’s that time of year when candy hearts, cupids, and mushy hallmark movies are in heavy rotation.  We can get caught up in the hustle and bustle of taking care of our Valentines but what’s just as important as picking up a box of chocolates for your boo? Taking care of your team. The sky is the limit on how you can show your team love. Here a just a few ways to start.

  1. Give Them facetime: It only takes a few minutes to check-in with your team. If your team is small take a few minutes and stop by each office to say hello and ask “How are you doing”. Give them time to respond and make sure not to fill the space with small talk.  genuine care and concern can go a long way with building trust. If you can’t stop by every team members office make sure to give attention to team members when you see them. instead of small talk at the copy machine, ask a question that will build trust. something like; “I noticed all of the projects you’re working on, is there anything you need that could make work a little easier for you?”
  2. Give Them Flexabitly: This one might look easy but will take some research. Flexibility in the workplace means something different for everyone. find out what your employees need in order to feel like work doesn’t have them by the collar. Flex-time, open door policy, work from home options are just a few options that promote a flexible work balance.
  3. Give Them Growth: When budgets are tight, training is usually the first line item to disappear. appreciating your team means investing in their professional development even when the budget is tight. Sit with your team to discover what career goals they have, once you audit the team makes sure to provide an opportunity for training based on their interest. A knowledgable team that feels supported is a strong team that will produce results.

Showing appreciation to your team doesn’t have to be expensive or a prolonged process. It takes consistency and thoughtfulness to keep your team happy and healthy!
